Often times clients are in need of long-term or short-term psychotropic medication to complement therapy. Medication evaluation and management are provided by Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners. These practitioners are specialists in managing and prescribing medications.
Research supports that therapy and medication together work better than medication alone for many issues. When a client is actively involved in therapy sometimes medication is found unnecessary or is only used for a time and can then be tapered down. Because of this evidence, clients at The Northwest Catholic Counseling Center must be in therapy to receive medication. Exceptions are made in a case-by-case situation.
