The Northwest Catholic Counseling Center continues its good work in 2012! This year we celebrated NCC’s commitment to quality mental health services for all during an evening of fun and fundraising on April 21 at Riverside Golf and Country Club.
The event raised $42,000 to pay for the care of low-income residents who need mental health counseling and medication management.
Music for the evening was provided by Grammy-nominated saxophonist Patrick Lamb, joined by Janice Scroggins. The Fourth Avenue Quartet provide additional musical highlights.
Jerry and Carol Bitz, long-time supporters of NCC, were honored with The Compassionate Heart Award.
Along with food and music, there was plenty of excitement around the raffle drawing.
The success of the event would not have been possible without the generous help of our sponsors:

Every fall a group of women gather and raise thousands of dollars to support the counseling needs of low-income mothers and their children. The needs are great:
This year, the theme is "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes." We'll highlight the journeys taken by our clients, and some other remarkable women.
The Circle of Strength is a formidable energy for good, a challenge to injustice, poverty, and abuse. It is a springboard into dreams that birth strong families and a strong future for our children. Last year, we raised nearly $85,000 to pay for counseling and medication management. Join us this year to help!
The Center provides poor, uninsured, and underinsured single women and their children with:

2011 was a momentous year for The Northwest Catholic Counseling Center! In 1986 Sisters Barbara Kennedy, Sarah Deeby and Lisa Sheridan responded to a call from the community: where can people, especially those living in poverty or without health insurance, go for mental health care?
In those early years, there was no office and few staff. Client and counselor met in a borrowed room at a parish or a small space at a school. Now there’s a permanent office, a staff of nearly 20, psychiatric medication management, workshops, and a thousand clients a year.
Thank you to those who were able to join us in marking this amazing milestone for the 25th Anniversary Celebration and Fundraiser - Compassionate Heart Awards. It was an evening of friends, laughter, a great selection of raffle prizes, and our three founding Sisters received the Compassionate Heart Award.

The 25th anniversary celebration had surprises in store as magician Rudy Tinoco displays some sleight of hand and Rita George, Center founder Sr. Sarah Deeby and Fr. Bob Anderson look on.
